The Daily Telegraph, Australia - Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has urged Simon Katich to spend several hours in a hyperbaric chamber in a desperate bid to be fit for the second Test against Pakistan at the SCG.
With rain falling at the SCG, the teams do not have to be named until the coin toss.
Rain forced the umpires to move the lunch break forward 10 minutes to 12.20pm with no play possible in the morning session.
Young opener Phillip Hughes is set to play however Ponting conceded it was possible Katich (injured elbow) could recover to play if the Test is delayed further.
"If I was him I'd be doing everything I could right now, not wasting time sitting here,'' Ponting said.
"That (Katich recovering to play) potentially could happen, it's hypothetical.'
Ponting, who has his own hyperbaric treatment to play in the Boxing Day Test, has privately told Katich to get to hospital for the treatment to speed up his recovery.
